Aden is an experienced violinist now based in Edinburgh, regularly performing with the Scottish Sinfonia, Aurora Ensemble, and Capella Edina. He is currently the Leader of the Aberdeen City Orchestra, guiding the ensemble through ambitious seasons that feature large-scale symphonic works, major choral collaborations, and performances with critically acclaimed international soloists, tackling major repertoire from Berlioz and Strauss to Holst.With over a decade of performance experience, Aden has a strong background in orchestral leadership and tutoring, previously serving as Leader of the Inverurie Orchestra (2019–24) and as a tutor with the University of Aberdeen Symphony Orchestra. An experienced pit musician, Aden has played for countless musicals and operas, ranging from Gilbert and Sullivan to new commissions with Sound Scotland.

Collaborative pianist
A versatile pianist, Aden regularly accompanies for exams of all levels and disciplines—from Initial Grade to Diplomas—across Edinburgh and beyond. He has extensive experience working as a repetiteur with choirs and societies in the North East of Scotland, including the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Aberdeen and the University of Aberdeen Opera Society, and performs with Any Enemy, the North East New Music Ensemble.Aden enjoys collaborating with singers and instrumentalists, recently including Jillian Bain Christie, soprano, and Lucy Webster, bassoon, for recitals. On the quirky end of the spectrum, Aden has played accordion for productions of Cabaret, Fiddler on the Roof, and Janáček’s Cunning Little Vixen, and often finds himself called in at short notice as a safe pair of hands for a variety of musical projects.

Wee Music School
Alongside his peripatetic teaching within the Scottish education system, Aden is the Director of the Wee Music School, which provides weekly lessons to over a hundred pupils with a growing team of teachers.Passionate about creating accessible musical pathways, Aden established regional youth ensembles with the Aberdeen City Orchestra. This initiative was designed to plug a local gap, helping young musicians bridge the transition from beginner and intermediate playing to national levels, with several of his students successfully auditioning for the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland (NYOS) and the National Youth Orchestra (NYO).Many of Aden's pupils have achieved Distinction passes from Initial Grade through to Diploma and ARSM, with a number going on to study music at universities and conservatoires across the UK. He is incredibly proud to have a former pupil return to teach at the Wee Music School after gaining a Master's in Violin Performance from the RNCM, and recently had a pupil reach the final of the Scottish Young Musician of the Year.
